How about a purple birthday? We’ve all heard of a blue Christmas, so how about a purple birthday? Hopefully not in the “sad and blue” and “purple with rage, apoplectic” sense of the word, more like the colour purple:
As with the first “happy” shaker I shared with you, this card uses the Winnie and Walter Cutaways dies to create the feature panel. (I did warn you that this was going to be variations on a theme!) These metallic pearlised card blanks came from a bumper pack of different shapes and sizes of cards, and I was wondering how to make the best use of these very tall and skinny cards! But I think they are the ideal shape to showcase these cute word dies.
Did you notice the main difference in today’s card? Look again:
Did you see it? The word is cut into the base purple card blank (as before), and is inlaid with another colour – silver – of cutout (as before), but what is this? You can see through the letters?! NOT as before! I backed the aperture created by the purple die cut with acetate, as for the shaker cards, but instead of creating a shaker card, I simply inlaid the silver happy and stuck it directly to the acetate. Thinking about it now, it would have been cool to back the acetate with another silver cut out, or a purple one, but cut with the cutting edge to the white side of the card, to make the silver word backwards. Then it could be silver or purple on both sides of the aperture!
These cards are very cute, and got a great reaction at work when I brought them in. Quite a few people were interested in these ones. I think that this one is my favourite colour combination – I do love a good bit of purple, especially when there’s also some silver in the mix!
Before I go today, here are the new weekly deals which launched this morning:
I’m going to treat myself to “For The New Two” as I’ve liked that for a while. And you can never go wrong with a good bit of baker’s twine. I’ll give you a hint – the Crushed Curry will go fabulously with some of the upcoming products in the new catalogue! So stock up now while it’s cheap! (Not that it is exactly expensive at full price!) The precision plate is perfect for use with intricate thinlits dies – and if you are a fan of these, you will really want this plate to use with the bits in the new catalogue… hint hint!
I want to make my kids’ Christmas cards tonight so that they are done, and I will possibly get hubby’s card done as well, if I am focussed and get myself organised. I know what I want to do for Smudge’s card, but the boys are a bit harder! There will definitely be some pink stuff coming out tonight – and maybe some purple or black or gold, for a change. (I am definitely a silver kind of girl, instead of gold.)
Have a great evening, and if I am lucky I will play with some of my new goodies as well. If you don’t already have a Stampin’ Up! demonstrator, then do get in touch with me and I can get you copies of the new catalogue and the SaleABration brochure, hopefully to reach you in time for Christmas! The new goodies go live on January 4th and they are very exciting. As always, there is something for all tastes, and what appeals to one may not appeal to others. A lot of it appeals to a lot of people, though – you have been warned!!
See you tomorrow!
