A sewing epic – new sheets for the twins!

Today I have something a little different to share with you – I spent Sunday on a sewing epic! We got the twins new sheets on Saturday as a reward for staying in bed and going to sleep on their own without anyone holding their hands or sitting with them, etc. But the sheets they chose are single bed sized, and they have cot beds which are quite a bit smaller. So on Sunday Mum and Dad were visiting and Mum kindly helped me to cut down the duvet cover from each set to make a cot bed sized duvet cover and two little pillowcases! So I thought I’d share those crafty endeavours with you today.

Here’s my workstation setup with my sewing machine, all my sewing bobbins, threads and scissors, etc.:

And here are their new sheets blowing on the line after being sewn and washed:

As if to prove that they are not “stereotypical” kids, the dinosaur sheets belong to Smudge, as she really liked them! Smidge wanted the hot pink covers with glow in the dark stars which I showed them (though I would have said he should have the black ones and Smudge the pink ones!)… until we found the minions. Then there was no question! But the minions ones are lovely. They are made of microfibre and are really soft. I’m kind of jealous, actually!

Here’s Smidge’s bed made up with his new sheet just to see what it looked like:

And this particular set is double-sided:

We didn’t try Smudge’s sheets on her bed, but they fit the covers and pillows nicely and she was very pleased with her new covers and pillowcases. They don’t have them yet, because the sheets are a treat for filling up their next week-long sticker chart, but they are doing well so far. All being well, they will earn those on Sunday and can have their new sheets in time for bedtime on Monday. I will change them before we pick them up from nursery.

I hope you like today’s share, and a glimpse into the wider world of crafting in my house! All I can say is God bless sewing machines – I never would have taken on that task if it had had to be hand-sewn!

Edited to add 2pm: Oops, I forgot to add in this week’s weekly deals! I should have known that would happen! Sorry, peeps, here they are:

About Katie

Katie has been crafting for most of her life, but has been an Independent Stampin' Up! demonstrator since April 2010. Her favourite techniques are rubber stamping, heat embossing and 3D decoupage, mainly applied in card making, but she's also an avid memory keeper! She loves the pocket scrapbooking style as it is quick and easy, and makes memory keeping much more achievable for her than the "traditional" option. She would love to share this with you if you are intrigued!
