You know what they say about an apple a day? It keeps the doctor away. Well this is true in more ways than one, if you are a crafter. Generally, stamping and crafting and generally doing what you enjoy is a proven technique for relaxing and de-stressing – which can only be good for us! So I am here to recommend (prescribe?) the apples contained within the gorgeous Sprinkles of Life stamp set at the back of the annual catalogue.
This set also ties in with the “doctor” theme of this post so far, as it is this year’s charity stamp set supporting the Ronald McDonald House Charity (RMHC). For every stamp set that is sold (£19), Stampin’ Up! will donate £2 to the RMHC to support families when children are going through medical treatment. Especially when they are far from home, RMHC provides money, support and accommodation to keep families together and surrounded by love. And who wouldn’t want that?
So would you like to see a gorgeous card featuring said apples? Of course you would!
Apple basket! I really like this image. The stamp set is full of different shapes which can be combined together to make trees, baskets, ice cream cones, bushes, clouds, ice cream cups, and probably lots more – those are just the obvious ones! And don’t forget that this set also coordinates perfectly with the Tree Builder punch, to make it easy to build 3D cards and images. As for the inside, well we decorated that as well:
I’m not going to try and take credit for such a lovely card design (though I did make this actual card!) – it was one of our 5 projects from the Stampin’ Twinklets training day – we packed a lot into a few short hours that day! I think that the thing I love most about this card is the little shiny apples. We stamped then punched each apple, and then stuck each one onto a glue dot off the roll. Leaving them attached to the backing paper we then (when we got home, due to drying time) covered each little apple with Crystal Effects to give them their amazing shine. Leave them to dry overnight, then add them to your project – and as they already have a glue dot on the back, they are very easy to stick down. Genius! This was one of the great tips that the fabulous Fiona gave us on the day. You could also do the same with the bird or the flower.
The background comes from the versatile Go Wild Designer Series Paper Stack, and at 6×6″ this paper is perfectly proportioned for making cards. This card is a great make – really easy but really nice and the Crystal Effects just adds that extra touch of luxury, in my opinion. The stamp set contains lots of different sentiments, so you can really use the set to make whatever kind of card you want – with or without the apple!
Why not invest in this set today? You’ll be helping to make a real difference in the lives of sick children and their families, and you’ll have a gorgeous versatile new stamp set to boot. I’d recommend you also treat yourself to the coordinating tree punch and you’ll soon be crafting up a storm. Get a bottle of Crystal Effects while you are at it, and there really will be no stopping you!
Have a fabulous Tuesday!
