Baby, we’ve grown!

As promised, here is a new baby card using a new stamp set from the Spring-Summer catalogue called Baby, We’ve Grown.

This was made for one of the guys at work whose wife gave birth to their newest daughter on New Year’s day!

I also made another one for my “card box” so I have a backup for when others have baby girls so I don’t have to find time to make a card straight away when life is busy:

Though I’m not as keen on this one – I think it is because the sentiment is too light in terms of ink colour. I might have to get out the ol’ stampamajig and re-stamp the sentiment in a different colour, maybe leaving the grey image slightly offset as a shadow. But it was worth a try!

Inside the card is the cutest baby girl stamp:

How gorgeous is that?! This, plus the boy shoes which I will share with you tomorrow were the reason I could not resist this set! The bunny is mega cute, too, hence why he is the focal point for the card. The little owl family in the set with the sentiment “Baby, we’ve grown” is just darling – and as quite a few of our friends are in or just approaching the sort of time where they are likely to be producing little people to add to their families, I can see the Baby we’ve grown set getting a reasonable amount of use!

The card base for the top card is the Shimmer Cardstock which comes in a pack of 10 sheets. It is lovely heavy-weight cardstock, like all the Stampin’ Up! stock is, and is brilliant for special occasion cards like weddings or babies, or for feature images or panels. The shimmer just adds a touch of luxury to the card. The second of the two cards above was stamped onto Whisper White cardstock, and you should be able to see the difference between the two images.

The bunny was stamped with Baked Brown Sugar onto Whisper White card and cut out using the Decorative Label Punch. Another label was cut from Pink Pirouette cardstock and used to frame the bunny image. The sentiment was stamped in Baked Brown Sugar (first card) or Basic Gray (second card), straight onto the base card. And inside was stamped with Baked Brown Sugar again.

I am definitely a fan of “Clean and Simple” cards, I think you’ve probably got a feel for this if you read my blog very often! I like more involved cards as well, but as I don’t currently get a lot of crafting time I feel the need to make the most of it, and involved cards take a *lot* more time! I will treat myself sometime and do a complicated card again… honest! I currently want to make a “card in a box”, which are popping up all over the place. I have got a tutorial video “pinned” so I will try to find time to watch that and give it a go one evening when the twins are in bed.

But for now I hope you like todays card – Rob and his wife did which is great. I always like it when my efforts are appreciated 🙂

Tomorrow I will show you the “boy” version – as we have a couple of boys due soon! (Not us, specifically, but friends and family!) Have a great day.

About Katie

Katie has been crafting for most of her life, but has been an Independent Stampin' Up! demonstrator since April 2010. Her favourite techniques are rubber stamping, heat embossing and 3D decoupage, mainly applied in card making, but she's also an avid memory keeper! She loves the pocket scrapbooking style as it is quick and easy, and makes memory keeping much more achievable for her than the "traditional" option. She would love to share this with you if you are intrigued!
