Cheerful Critters Part 1 – the bear!

This week I have a series of posts for you – using the Cheerful Critters set of stamps. There are three cute little animals with “placards” in this set, a bear (the subject of the focus today), a bunny and a chick. Great for any occasion, but I used them for birthday cards for the boys’ birthday party that we went to a few weeks ago now. Here’s the first in the set:

Cute, huh? And dead simple to do. The stamp set comes with a bunch of different sentiments, or you can mix in any sentiments that you have which will fit into the placard (or not, if you want to get creative with the signage!). I coloured these guys in using my Blendabilities – most of which you can earn as free products during SaleABration, so now is a fabulous time to stock up.

The images are simple yet effective, and not too “cutesy” so should be appropriate for most people if they have a sense of humour. I love the sentiment in the set that says “I like your face”!! Classic!

I could do with a little more practice with the Blendabilities to really get the shading and colouring looking great, but it doesn’t look too bad, and how closely are three-year-old boys going to be looking at my colouring anyway?! Not very, I suspect. Certainly not enough to be critiquing me on it.

I am toying with the idea of making some mini cards for Easter using the bunny and the chick, but you’ll see them in the next couple of days on the birthday set. I also need to get some Mother’s Day cards made soon – not just for us, but a few spares for the office, too, to see if I can have some success in selling those like I did with the Valentines cards I made. Also a birthday card for a certain someone. Hopefully I will be able to make some time for that tonight.

So tomorrow I plan to share the chick with you, or I might get distracted and use the bunny first! I hope that you like this card – the sentiment underneath the image is from Sassy Salutations and seems to me to fit in well – what do you think? I would love to hear your thoughts on this little set of cards.

Have a great day and I will be back tomorrow with a chick… or a bunny…!

About Katie

Katie has been crafting for most of her life, but has been an Independent Stampin' Up! demonstrator since April 2010. Her favourite techniques are rubber stamping, heat embossing and 3D decoupage, mainly applied in card making, but she's also an avid memory keeper! She loves the pocket scrapbooking style as it is quick and easy, and makes memory keeping much more achievable for her than the "traditional" option. She would love to share this with you if you are intrigued!
