We are now offering Deep Blue Crafting Monthly Classes.
Why Come?
Are you the type of person who rarely takes time for yourself? If you are always busy but there is little time for fun, or if you believe that you are not creative, these classes are for you.
Do you often put others first? If you could do with more sociability in your world, particularly for you and not based on your children or loved ones, and you want to create something lovely, these classes are for you.
Would you like to spend an evening in the company of a small group of other people, learning some new skills and making a selection of cards using good quality products? Then you need to book your space in a class or two!
If you simply want to be able to give your friends and family personal, hand-made cards, these classes are for you. There is an added bonus with giving unique cards, and that is when they ask where you bought it, and you get to see the look on their faces when you say you made it yourself!
These classes are especially for you if you suffer with any mental health challenges, including but not limited to, anxiety, stress, and/or depression. I personally suffer from all three of these, and I know how hard they can be. But the mental health benefits of crafting, especially in a supportive and friendly social atmosphere are innumerable, and I can’t even begin to explain here about how much my crafting has helped me over the years. Particularly through the social aspects of Stampin’ Up! – my doctor was highly impressed with my plans and progress through attending crafting and creative events! Suffice to say, you will be in safe hands here.
What will we do?:
Come along to a class and make a minimum of 4 items using Stampin’ Up! supplies. The projects will be mainly cards, and may also include gift packaging, tags, home decor or gifts, depending on the theme of the event. Each month will have a different theme and a different mix of project types in accordance with the theme. The aim is to have a different fancy fold or technique each month to expand your crafting repertoire and experience.
The class theme will be listed on the website, and the next month will be announced at the preceding month’s class – the first few themes are shown below and will be updated as the information is available.
The classes are suitable for all levels of crafter, and will include a range of card styles and approaches. Support will be given to all attendees as required, and the class size is limited to 8 attendees to enable this. So don’t feel intimidated by a lack of experience or knowledge, we love to encourage “newbies”! We are also more than welcoming to anyone who wants to come along and be a part of the group.
Below are some examples of the sort of cards we will be making at the classes:
- Masculine Z-Fold
- Geared Up Garage
- Oil Stain Window
- Let’s stay up late and craft
- Happy Wonderful Christmas
- Thinking of You
Details:
Classes are typically held on the second Wednesday of the month, 7:30-9:30pm.
Personal commitments, Stampin’ Up! events and similar reasons may mean that the class moves from the second Wednesday, but this will be communicated here and through other channels such as the Deep Blue Crafting Facebook page. Whenever possible, the date will not move to provide consistency and ease of planning for us and you!
The classes will be held in Beggarwood, Basingstoke, close to the Co-Op on Beggarwood Lane. When you book, you will receive the relevant details for the class including the address and what (if anything) you need to bring along. All of the items you will need to complete the class will be provided, and will be available to purchase. Many crafters find it useful to bring a basic class kit along with them and we will be able to assist you in getting this together if you don’t already own one and would like one.
Class dates for 2019:
Day: Wednesday
Time: 19:30 – 21:30
Cost: £15 per attendee per session or free with a minimum catalogue order
Booking
In order to book your place, please send a message here or through our Deep Blue Crafting Facebook page and we will be in touch to arrange payment and to confirm your place.
Make sure you get in early when you know you want to attend a class – as mentioned above, spaces are limited to 8 attendees per session to keep it cosy, intimate and supportive for everyone. If you have a group of friends who all want to take part but a Wednesday is no good for you, then there is always an option to arrange for a private class for you. This applies even if Wednesday is good for you, obviously! We are more than happy to provide private events and classes.
Going forwards we will be looking at getting an online booking system in place but we have not quite got there yet! So don’t let this stop you from booking onto a class and coming along to have a go!
Next Steps:
In conclusion, get yourself booked onto a class which appeals to you, come along and give it a go, and hopefully find yourself a new hobby as well as the potential for a new group of friends.
We look forwards to welcoming you to an event soon!
