Happy Birthday to me….
Yep, in case you hadn’t guessed, today is my birthday! I was woken up in the nicest way possible this morning, by Gary, Smidge and Smudge singing happy birthday with cake, candles and a balloon, as well as cards and presents 🙂 We didn’t have cake for breakfast, though, we are saving that for after work.
So today I have a birthday-ish card to share with you, though unfortunately this isn’t my card:
This card is one of a set made by Sara that she was showing us at team training. I will show you the other cards another day, but I thought this was pretty apt for me to share today, even if it isn’t an explicitly happy birthday card!
They are a very clever concept – you cut the happy sentiment using the Hello You Thinlits from the top (patterned) layer of paper, and stick the base piece to the card base. You then cut multiples of the same greeting from plain cardstock – white was used here but you could easily use coloured card if it fitted in better with the papers you were using – and stick them all together with the patterned paper on top to make a greeting stack of happy. Then you “replace” the sentiment with the stack, and it both stands out and is camoflaged at the same time! The busier the pattern on the paper, the harder you have to look to see what it says.
I like this concept and would like to make some cards like this – if I can find the time and patience to cut and stick together all those happy words! If you combine the thinlits dies with the coordinating stamp set, you can make a whole range of stacked greetings cards. And (hint hint) there are some more coordinating stamps and dies in the upcoming seasonal catalogue which you could do similarly themed Christmas cards with! Maybe that ought to be my first port of call…
Oh, the ideas! New stash always makes me happy. As does being spoiled, which I definitely was this morning, which is very rare. I enjoyed that a lot. Thanks, sweetie xxx
Have a nice day, and be sure to have some cake to celebrate!
Oops! I forgot to tell you about the new deals for this week! Here we go:
Lovely, and they must have known that you all need to make me birthday cards, as they have the “And Many More” set on offer, which has some gorgeous sentiments in it! 😉 Have a fab day, I plan to!
