Hooray for the everyday

Hooray for the everyday. My message to you today is simple – enjoy the everyday stuff of real life.

So often we wish away the “normal” everyday events in favour of the weekends, special events, parties, etc. but we get so much more out of normal life if only we stop and appreciate it. Yes, the special occasions are great, but they happen so much less than the everyday activities and we don’t really want to wish our lives away, do we?

I have been happily reminded of this over the past week while I was participating in Ali Edwards’ Week In The Life (WITL) project. The focus of the project, essentially, is to focus on the everyday – see where this post is coming from?! The “mundane”, the everyday, the stuff that makes life what it is *right now*. Yes, somethings are the same every.single.day, but that’s part of it. As life moves along, things will change, and what makes up the bulk of your day could well change. I know that life is quite different now to what it was four, three, two and one years ago – with small children the everyday changes on a regular basis. And it will change again next year when the twins head off to school. So having thoroughly enjoyed the Hello December/ December Dailies project, I wanted to take the chance to partake of this Week in the Life round and to know that people all over the world were also documenting their lives along with me. I made notes on timings of things (like when my little bear comes into my room in the morning to tell me he needs a wee!), what we did, where we went, who we saw, who is currently “in favour”, what we ate, and what clever or funny things the twins say. Because those will likely be very different the next time this project rolls around. I also took about a million photographs!

I need to get to work on my album, and work out which photographs I want to include in my page layouts, which stories I want to write up in more detail, what details of everyday life are important to me just now, what I am looking forward to changing in the upcoming days, weeks, months and years, what we are watching (or not watching) on TV, you know, the little things as well as the big stuff.

In the meantime I think that this “hooray for the everyday” card is perfect to share with you today:

It’s another non-scrapbook use for the Project Life accessories. I am liking how these turn out, and have an aim to make more cards featuring Project Life cards, especially the ones I just cannot see myself using in my scrapbooking. It’s all about time to craft, though! This week I am focussing on decluttering – mainly the twins’ clothes as they have both had a growth spurt and we need to know which of their clothes fit in case we need to get any new bits, as well as checking that they have everything they need for holiday. However, our washing machine is crrently having a funny fit so hopefully that will be able to either be fixed or replaced without too much fuss or expense. I need my washing machine!!

Finally for today, it is Wednesday so that means it’s weekly deals time!

2015 weekly deals wk35-36

These deals will overlap (just) with the launch of the new catalogue, so feel free to include any of the items on your order for new goodies on Tuesday. Beware, though, if you wait until Wednesday these bits will be back to full price and something else will be discounted instead. So if you think you might forget, order today!

Have a fabulous everyday today, and make the most of the little things!

About Katie

Katie has been crafting for most of her life, but has been an Independent Stampin' Up! demonstrator since April 2010. Her favourite techniques are rubber stamping, heat embossing and 3D decoupage, mainly applied in card making, but she's also an avid memory keeper! She loves the pocket scrapbooking style as it is quick and easy, and makes memory keeping much more achievable for her than the "traditional" option. She would love to share this with you if you are intrigued!
