I have been threatening it for a while – now I am sharing Christmas cards! I will be sure to mix them in with spring and summer cards, though 🙂
This card uses the “Lovely as a Tree” stamp set to create a gorgeous wintery card which could easily be adapted for spring, summer, or just a winter birthday card.
The base colour is Smoky Slate with the tree stamped in Basic Gray. The tree has then been over-stamped with versamark ink, and sprinkled with heat and stick powder. The powder is heated and covered with dazzling diamonds glitter and then reheated to fix the glitter in place to give the beautiful sparkle effect. The base detail of the stamp was not stamped in versamark by masking the area on the card, so only the tree glitters.
The image was cut out using the Apothecary Accents framelits and then cutting the rounded edge off the bottom of the frame. The piece was paper pierced round the edge to add extra interest and then matted onto a rectangle of Whisper White cardstock. A hole was punched in the top of the shape and some Bakers twine tied through the hole. The Christmas message is from Teeny Tiny Sentiments and was coloured up with markers so as to just get the single word on the card.
A bannered stripe of Silver Glimmer Paper adds that extra touch of Christmas sparkle and the background has added depth by using the Simply Scored Scoring Tool to score straight lines at intervals across the card background layer. A blob of dazzling details on each of the outer corners and add the whole lot to a whisper white card blank, and there you have a monochrome card which is simple and elegant. I wish I could take credit for this as it is gorgeous, but it was a swap from our team training back in October 2013. By Sarah, I believe. Clever girl!
I aim to get some crafting time in this week (if nothing else I need to make hubby a birthday card!) and so will be back on Tuesday with some more pretty things to share. I didn’t manage to make my February Christmas card quota either, so I am now 3 cards behind, so I need to get going on those as well! It’s all very well planning to be organised, but it only helps if it actually happens!!! Wish me luck! (If I manage to get them made, I will definitely share my creations with you soon.)
