Apologies for the lack of posting yesterday, it has been crazy here again! I really ought to schedule my Tuesday posts more and make the most of any 5 minute gap I have to add to them!
So today I have another Christmas card for you; it’s another swap card as I can’t share my most recent makes with you for a few days as they are still a secret! And next week I ought to have something completely different to share as I am off to a crafty workshop on Sunday with the lovely Sheena Douglass for a messy day. A lot of what Sheena does is on the scary side for me as I am a much cleaner crafter than her style, but I love the results and it’s great to try these techniques in a “controlled environment” with help available when I need it! It’s a shame that they are a bit time-consuming as I rarely do them outside of the workshops, even though I love the results and I’m sure the recipients would, too. I must make more effort on that front, I think.
So, without further fluff, here’s the card for today:
The feature image is from the Mosaic Madness and is cut out with the coordinating Mosaic punch. I love the Mosaic set, it is so versatile and can be used for absolutely any occasion. The Mosaic is mounted onto two layered Artisan Label cutouts, one of which was stamped with the Label Love set first. You can see the colours used in this card in the “ingredients” list below, so I won’t list them all here. It’s fairly easy to work out which is which.
The background is some of the Season of Style Washi Tape from the Autumn/Winter seasonal catalogue. It is no longer available but we have plenty of other designs of washi tape which would work (maybe with a different colour scheme, though!) or you can substitute the tape with the stamps from the Tape It set which will never run out and can be any colour you like!
The sentiment is from Wishing You, and was inked with markers to get just the sentiment without the image. This set has also now been retired, but there are still a number of Christmas sets available, including the Very Merry Tags set (which is actually where the Mosaic stamp on this card came from, not from Mosaic Madness!). So you can easily substitute out the sentiment used here. This is a cute card which would be easy to change the occasion just by changing out the sentiment and maybe the colour scheme. But you could also use Tape It to create a similar Christmas card in all blues, lilacs and silvers; that would be gorgeous! And such a great batch card as it takes next to no time to stamp and punch the little shapes, create the backgrounds and put the cards together. I *will* be making some of these soon! Ooooh, and also make some in the same design with a thank you sentiment, so your Christmas cards and thank you notes are all coordinated. How cool would that be?!
Thanks to Fiona for a lovely swap card which I have found to be very inspiring. Don’t be surprised if you receive a card from me based on this design concept!! For a time-strapped Mummy of twins who *really* wants to make my own cards and avoid card shops, simple yet gorgeous cards like this are a God-send! Not to mention the wonderful products and consumables from Stampin’ Up! like the washi tape and tape stamp sets which make execution of the projects so easy!
I will be back with another (non-Christmas) card for you tomorrow. Have a great day!
