Did I mention that I’m a bit obsessed with the birthday balloons at the moment? It’s the cuteness of the Celebrate Today stamp set and the ease of use of the Balloon framelits. Put the two together and you get over-the-top easy *and* cute!
Bermuda Bay and Island Indigo are great masculine birthday colours, and I mixed it up with some of the other colours from the Stacked With Love DSP stack from the Spring/ Summer catalogue. Although this paper seems to be Valentine-related, most of the stack has nothing to do with Valentines, so I would recommend you getting some before the seasonal catalogue “closes” on June 2nd. It’s a really versatile paper stack in wonderful 6×4″ size – perfect for card fronts, Project Life, or die-cutting, like these cute balloons!
I sent this card to my Grandad for his birthday on Saturday, and I really hope he likes it. The balloon strings are the thick Bakers twine but I split each strand into the three separate threads before attaching them to the balloons using slip knots! Much easier than trying to hold all the bits in place while tying a reef knot. This one is the Coastal Cabana thick twine from the 2013-2015 In Colours which retire at the end of the current catalogue period. (Though they might as well already be retired because you can’t get much of anything in those colours any more, except the sequins, the Colour Coach cards and maybe the odd snippet of something here and there!) But never fear that the thick twine is all sold out because (SNEAK PEEK NEWS ALERT!) … there are five colours of thick bakers twine in the new catalogue 🙂 Yay!
The Happy sentiment on the card is embossed in Gold embossing powder, and the balloons themselves are popped up with dimensionals, which is a bit hard to see from the picture. I stamped “celebrate” inside the card in Bermuda Bay, and the “birthday” on the front is Island Indigo.
I really liked this card, and was glad I’d made a couple as they are quite elegant, I think. Great for those weeks when you just don’t have time to make a specialised card, no matter how much you want to. I think anyone would feel pretty special receiving this guy in the post, no?
Let me know your favourite cards to receive, and what you think of this one!
