Old butterflies are new again!

Today I am sharing an “old” card, using a number of retired products including stamps, papers and a punch. Which I try not to do very often because if I use old products which are not available any more, then I have no chance of inspiring you to buy them through me! However, this is an exception to the rule, I believe. As everything old is new again!

Let me explain. First, let’s see the card:

The butterflies were cut with the old and now retired butterfly punch. This has since been replaced with the Elegant Butterfly and Bitty Butterfly punches. Which are quite different in style.

But in the new catalogue, we have these:

Which if you look closely, each set includes a shape which is very similar to the original Butterfly Extra-Large punch. So if you like this card and the simple “old” butterflies, then you might wish to consider investing in one (or even both) of these new thinlits sets of dies to allow you to cut out simple yet elegant butterflies!

There are similar stamps in the new catalogue to those used here (I believe these may have been an old SaleABration set) and there are always papers which can be utilised for cutting butterflies from! Maybe this is a great excuse to use up some of *your* old stash…? The linen thread and Basic Pearls used here are still valid items, so you can easily dress up your new or old butterflies to decorate your card or project.

I may share more “old” cards on here in the coming months, as I send them out to people or just find new products which can be substituted for the original items used! These lovely butterflies were sent to a previous demonstrator as she asked me for a current catalogue and I couldn’t send that on its own! She really liked the card, and the papers used, so it was a good pick from my box-‘o’-cards! I’d love to hear what you think of the card, so go ahead and comment, don’t be shy!

Have a great day, and weekend, and I will be back on Tuesday with a new post for you, if not before then! Enjoy.

About Katie

Katie has been crafting for most of her life, but has been an Independent Stampin' Up! demonstrator since April 2010. Her favourite techniques are rubber stamping, heat embossing and 3D decoupage, mainly applied in card making, but she's also an avid memory keeper! She loves the pocket scrapbooking style as it is quick and easy, and makes memory keeping much more achievable for her than the "traditional" option. She would love to share this with you if you are intrigued!
