This is a tough week! It’s amazing how long it takes to recover from getting to bed at 3am. Especially as I was never a big “party girl” and have never coped well with late nights/ very early mornings. Still, Smidge seems to be much better – he’s still sick but he’s improving.
So today I have the card that our friend H made for her Dad when she came to “play” the other week. It’s an ideal share for today as it is bright and sunny and reminds you what to do:
What a happy card. It is a really simple one to make, and came from inspiration (as always) on Pinterest. This was made by H, but I basically told her what to do, as it was only her second ever card!
We made a standard A6 card blank from Whisper White cardstock, and rounded the outer corners with the Corner Rounder punch. We also cut a shape from Whisper White using the Top Note Sizzix Die, and cut it in half lengthwise. Flags were cut from various colours of cardstock in the Brights family using the Petite Pennants Builder punch, making two of the Real Red and two of the Rich Razzleberry. Layers of Crumb Cake and Basic Black were cut to a size that looked right to frame the central focus of the Top Note and pennants. Again, the right-hand-side corners were rounded off.
Then the layers were stuck together with snail, lining up the left hand edges, and the Top Note was added to the top. The pennants were then layered onto the base layers in rainbow order with an additional pennant at the top and bottom of the stack which overhang the edge and was then trimmed to fit. We started placing the pennants in the middle of the card to ensure that the rainbow was fairly centralised.
The sentiment is from the Happy Day stamp set and was stamped using Basic Black onto Whisper White cardstock which was then cut into a banner. (Note: I have the old-style of basic black ink pad with a felt pad, but if you have the new firm foam style of inkpad then you might want to stamp with Stazon when stamping onto Whisper White card, as they had to reformulate the black ink to get it to work with the new base. The new ink does not dry well on whisper white or very vanilla cardstock and is prone to smudging and smearing.) A blue button from the Regals collection was added (as I didn’t have a pot of brights buttons!) and tied with a piece of Whisper White Bakers twine before it was stuck down with a glue dot. The banner was popped up on Stampin Dimensionals to finish the card. I hope that H’s Dad liked the card – I have not remembered to ask her since we made it!
