None of us like having to make sympathy cards, do we? But using a couple of recently retired stamp sets, that’s exactly what I had to make a couple of weeks ago when my boss at work sadly lost his mum to a nasty infection.
Here’s the card I made using Sweet Essentials and So Very Grateful:
I embossed both the sentiment and the image in silver embossing powder and then got my Many Marvellous Markers out to colour it in. This could also be easily done with the new blendability pens (I have my first set on order and am just waiting for them to arrive to start colouring in Father Christmases…!). The embossing powder gives a great finish – this photo shows the pretty shine on the finish:
I then used the thinking of you image from For The Birds on the inside of the card:
I finished off the front of the card with three Basic Pearls on two of the corners which added the finishing touch.
Though it was obviously a card I didn’t want to have to make, it was well received for the sentiment and thought behind it, and I got the whole team to sign it before we gave it to our boss. Such a shame. At least she had a nice long life (82 years, I think), though it was not nice to have such a nasty infection.
